US Frigate - Constitution
Not much can be said about the USS Constitution that
isn't generally known. Called "Old Ironsides" after her victory over the English
HMS Guerriere in August of 1812. She also served as the flagship in the
Tripolitan wars, and is the oldest commissioned ship afloat in the world. This
model is completely scratch built from the official plans for the 1927
restoration from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology included in the book
"The Frigate Constitution and other Historic Ships" by F. Alexander Magoun, as
well as from recent photographs of the ship in Boston Harbor.
